Who let the dog out?

I must admit I've never been in this coffee shop, but I like it right away. A nice, quiet ambience and all sorts of healthy, yet delicious looking things on the menu. A soft music is playing in the background. I listen carefully. Yes, it just might be something by Perro himself! Ah, the place has style.

As I am taking a first sip of my Mega Mango juice, Perro walks in. He gives the place a quick glance, sees me and comes towards me at a brisk pace. With a slightly shy, but very winning smile, he takes off his shades (very cool by the way), gives me a paw and introduces himself. As he sits down and orders a chai tea, I have the time to take a good look at him. A handsome and healthy dog in the prime of his life. Well-groomed but with a patch of unruly fur in the back that gives him a charming imperfectness. I decide I like him.

 So, what decided you to pick this place?

He takes a sip of his tea and smiles. "Oh, I come here a lot. They have healthy and good food and drinks and I just love the atmosphere. Don't get me wrong, I do get a craving every now and then for some junk food, but mostly I try to eat healthy. Preferably with some friends, make it an enjoyable evening."

 Ah, a social creature?

"I am, but I really haven't had that much time lately. Since the website took off I've been travelling the world for quite a bit. Luckily I feel at home everywhere. I think borders are relative, I'm a regular world citizen. For example: my roots are firmly in the West, but I have an extensive interest in the East. I'm fascinated by the oriental culture and I'm a huge fan of the oriental cuisine. You can wake me up in the middle of the night for some good sushi!"

 Hahaha, be careful what you say, I might just take you up on that! But tell me more, who IS Perro, what makes you tick?

"Oh, well, I guess I'm just always looking for cool stuff, things most people haven't discovered yet. And to share these with the whole world! Take movies for instance: I love watching movies. The Star Wars saga belongs to my favourites, but I also love the art-house stuff. Those are really good movies that a lot of people just don't know about. That's just such a shame, I feel that everybody should see them! That was also one of the reasons I started my website."

 Right, your website, the craze of the moment! Tell me more about it.

"I've always been interested in software and computers. So this was an excellent way to combine several of my favourite pastimes. I enjoy surfing the web, looking for the weird and the interesting but I'm also a huge music lover. I appreciate the mainstream stuff, but I'm a real nut for the electronic or the experimental stuff. A steady beat or a ripping guitar can be just the thing every now and then too, but I'm not a real rocker or raver: I mostly like to tinker with synths, samplers and sequencers myself. That's also what started me on the flash toons. I found some really cool flash animations on the web, but I realized I could put my own creativity in it as well as my own music."

 And so you did. And your humour as well!

"Yes, well, I like different kinds of humour, as long as it's non-violent. So my toons are humorous, but suitable for all ages. Parents can watch them, but their kids as well."

 Well, I'm sure they all will, at least those that haven't already! Thank you for this interview Perro, it was very nice to get to know the dog behind the craze.
